Better insurance software

We partnered with Guidewire and Metlife to create a product that manages millions of insurance policies around the globe.

Background

Guidewire is a successful US-based Insurance Software company, with a Market Cap of $8.3Bn. They employ 350 Irish staff in their design and innovation support centre in Ireland, Dublin.

We have provided Experience Design and Development consultancy services to Guidewire since 2016 in both a tactical and strategic capacity.

Client feedback

“Xwerx has been an excellent partner to us for the past three years. They have provided a broad range of expertise and offered an independent perspective on many issues. I would have no hesitation in recommending them as UX Partner for any large enterprise.”

Experience Kit

We created a series of Journey Paths as part of a strategic review of Guidewire’s ecosystem of software.

Our objective was to “zoom out” and understand the product line from the users’ perspective and define the most typical and anticipated interactions.

In addition to this, we created an Experience Kit containing personas, screen flows, a HTML-based style guide and sitemaps. This kit helps product teams to understand the design principles that support Guidewire’s digital products as well as practically supporting the configuration of the projects they are working on.

Prototype Development

At a tactical level, we have supported a number of developments by providing Information Architecture, UX Design and Prototype Development services to product teams.

A prime example of this was the support we provided as part of Guidewire’s initiative with Nationwide to create a new insurance platform for micro-businesses in the USA. Our designers were embedded in the product development team and were instrumental in helping to shape the streamlined transaction experience that the product demanded.

Embedded Development Team

A number of our developers have been embedded with the Guidewire team for the past 18 months, supporting the roll-out and development of a significant project for Metlife.

As well as completing the UI development work that flows from the agile governance process, our team has been instrumental in helping to improve the efficiency of the overall project dynamic.

This is a great example of how we combine the tactical aspects of “getting the job done”, whilst also offering independent, third party advice to enhance the strategic direction of a complex, multi-agency project.
